A University Degree via text

iLink: The Manila Times Internet Edition | OPINION > Texting and open universities.

The UPOU is experimenting on short messaging service (SMS), or texting, to deliver classwork content to students. This is the latest development in distance learning. It is not surprising to see this method come to maturity in our country.  The Philippines, with more than 2 million SMS sent each day from over 13 million cellular-phone subscribers, is after all called ‘the texting capital of the world.”

I think we’re stretching it, trying to deliver classwork content via 160 character messages. I like the concept of keeping students and their University ‘connected’ via the medium.
