Have a look at this. It’s rather neat. I had a note from Jill Barry, marketing exec, up at Keypoint Tech near Glasgow, which, by the way, is nearby where my gran lives.

Keypoint are known for their user interfaces. I’ve been hearing lots about them from an array of different people for some time. The sort of thing people chat to me about when I’ve had two cokes and they’ve had 3 glasses of beer. You know, ‘Have you checked out Keypoint?’ that sort of thing. From memory, rumour and other caffeine-addled memories, I’m sure Keypoint won some prestigious awards or the like recently. Ring’s a bell. I’ll have a look.

Anyway, Jill asked me to take a look at their Adaptex Live offering.

AdapTex has been developed by language specialists to predict contextually relevant words and whole phrases. That’s the really nifty bit. It learns your writing style as you use it, so it gets better and better. For instance, with me, it would continually stick in ‘context’, ‘perspective’, and ‘wonder’ — you know, regular words I’m forever using.

AdapTex isn’t new per se — it’s been available for PocketPCs for some time. What’s new is the SmartPhone Edition. And rather interestingly, there’s a Symbian version coming soon. THAT will be good to take a look at. I wonder how they’ll implement it — and for what handsets?

It’s definitely worth a look, especially if you’ve been putting up with the rather boring one-suggestion Windows Mobile text entry option. AdapTex is something else. Take a few mins and have a look at their flash demo via this link. It’s implemented beautifully so you’ll get it in moments.

I am going to try it out. I need to dig out my Smartphones as they’re sat in the corner on constant charge somewhere. I only have my Nokias and the Shine with me at the moment.

Have you used it? They’ve got a 14 day trial so I’d welcome your feedback. I’m sure Jill and the team would too. I can’t help wondering how it will work on the rather badly received Treo 750v — if you’re one of the pained 750v users, perhaps you could try it out and see if it makes life easier? 😉

I’m going to try and persuade her to do a Q&A interview like Oren’s today.
