airwide to set up SMS R&D centre

MUMBAI: Bullish on India’s technology prowess, US-based airwide solutions will set up an R&D centre in Gurgaon to develop mobile messaging products for the international market. The global provider of cellular infrastructure software will float its India subsidiary by March this year. airwide developed the world’s first short message service centre (SMSC) and sent the first SMS with Vodafone in 1992.
