How does that work?

java app, download, integrates with phone book. Check destination you want to call in list, gives you price (US 5p per minute to landline or mobile). Call the number. Connects you to local switch, it asks you for the number, the app has lined the number up as a dtmf signal, press call, it then connects you. Perfect, perfect call clarity, in fact better as it’s going along copper
It worked well for me too. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s definitely worth a look.
It’s particularly useful if, like me, you do a lot of business internationally. This usually entails wanting to make international calls via your mobile when you’re sat somewhere inconvenient to a landline, like the pub or a restaurant — but you NEED to get the call through.
Sometimes I end up calling directly and paying the 2 quid a minute stupid rates. If I’ve a little more patience, I’ll maybe try one of those 0870-dial services that at least keep the cost down — that’s a TOTAL arse if the person’s number is in your address book. You have to play stupid memory games to try and remember the number whilst dialing your calling service.
No more. No need. Juvino fixes all that. The little java applet sits on your handset and reads your address book. You simply call as you would normally — in the background, Juvino dials its local access number and routes your call through at say 5p/min to the USA. Super. Flawless, as Alfie says. Do check it out.
PS. Also check out Alfie’s gorgeous new blog style.
