AllofMP3 - buy albums to download via SMS
A friend told me about AllofMP3‘s SMS payment service. He was telling me that he really wanted to buy an album — and it wasn’t anywhere on iTunes — so he went over to the AllofMP3 site and was downloading it within a few moments, having paid £3 via premium SMS to do so.
Smart, I thought.
Well, I heard ‘Invisible Touch’ by Genesis on the radio this morning. Just a tiny bit of it. And I made a mental note to buy it on iTunes later. Typically, there’s some bullshit license shit crap nonsense going on which prevents me from getting it easily. Some idiot, somewhere, has decided that they don’t want to license it to iTunes.
Total arse. I really don’t have any time for any artist playing these sort of games. Here’s the cash, give me the content please. I’ve no problem paying for music content at all. I wish these people would make it simple.
Anyway I ordered the album for £3 on Amazon. It’s coming in a few days.
But you know what, I want it now. Just want to listen to that song. I’m not a huge fan. It’s not a big deal. Just, you know, we’re in the generation now culture. I want. I want. I want.
I sated my want by testing out AllofMP3’s mobile service. As well as a brilliantly good looking and functional website, the mobile service is wickedly good. It automatically recognised I was in the UK and made the whole ordering process extremely simple.
I had to send ‘Allofmp3’ to their 70000 series shortcode (the 7-series are for e-payments). I had to do this twice so that I built up £3 credit (i.e. 2 x 1.50 messages). Immediately upon sending the second message, I got my code and I was presented the files for downloading right away.
Seamless integration of mobile payments. You just find the album or song you’re looking for and click the ‘SMS-order’ link there. Do you see it? Beneath the main ‘add to basket’ button.
