Absolutely stonking news in from Spinvox. Huge news.

There was a big buzz about the office about this particular announcement. It only just been released for publication today.

They’ve done a deal with Alltell — one of the largest mobile networks in North America — to offer the Spinvox service to their customers — all 12 million of them. Nice. What a coup. There’ll be more operators doing similar — you can bet on it.

Here’s the announcement text:

SpinVox, the founder and global leader in Voice-to-Screenâ„¢ messaging for carriers, today announced an agreement with Alltel Wireless (NYSE: AT) – America’s largest network – to offer the SpinVox service to its 12 million-plus customer base.
Alltel plans to launch SpinVox in Q4 2007. Subscribers to the service will have their voice messages converted to text and sent directly to their cell phone. The service works with any SMS capable mobile handset and requires no software download. At a glance, Alltel subscribers to the service will be able to not only see who called, but read what they said and, with one simple click — choose to call or text back directly.

‘This offering is part of our ongoing plan to continually enhance our customers’ wireless experience by providing useful and innovative solutions,” said Wade McGill, Senior Vice President, Product Management, Alltel.

‘We’re delighted that market leader Alltel has chosen voice messaging powered by SpinVox,” commented SpinVox co-founder and CEO, Christina Domecq.

For those waiting for my Spinvox piece, thanks for your patience — I am mid-way through writing up the PAGES AND PAGES of notes I took when I met them.
