Author writes 384 page book on mobile

If you suffer from RSI in your thumbs from phone over-usage, spare a thought for author Robert Bernocco, who’s just finished writing a 384 page sci-fi novel on his Nokia.

According to news reports, 40-year old Italian IT geek Mr Bernocco seized the opportunity to use his idle time whilst commuting to work and back by train, writing his book “Compagni di  viaggio” (“Fellow Travellers”) on his Nokia 6630, using predictive text. By dividing his manuscript in to short paragraphs and saving them on his mobile phone, he would then download them to his PC for proof-reading and editing.

Mr Bernocco said: “Only a few years ago I would have struggled to find both the time and the publisher to enable me to create this book. Thanks to my Nokia and Lulu I am now proud to be a published author.”

Five months later, some very sore thumbs and possibly a rather knackered Nokia later, and you can purchase his debut novel from digital content site LuLu. Of course it’ll help if you speak Italian – no word yet whether anyones bought him a new phone to write an English version.
