Berggi, mobile messaging at a whopping $9.99/month

The company raised $3 million from investors like Adara2 Venture Partners, and offers a downloadable application that bundles email, IM and texting capabilties, which costs $9.99 per month.

Gorgeous Katie Fehrenbacher over at GigaOm has been taking a look at Berggi. I like the concept. But the model is ridiculous. TEN DOLLARS? A MONTH? I’d have used part of the $3m they raised to a) buy a stake in MXit or b) do a deal with Hotxt.

All is not lost however, as one imagines they’ve still got a thumping great load of cash left in the bank — so there’s hope for them yet.
