Blyking it; another look; another thought
I was just thinking about advertising funded mobile services then I got on to thinking about Blyk, checked out their blog and, well no real news yet, but it could be rather exciting to see what they come up with.
I’ve got quite a few friends who regularly spend almost 10% of their income on mobile telephony services. They don’t own landlines. They don’t bother buying calling cards and they rarely change price plans. They just mentally hide when their mobile phone bill comes in — and only, when a bit of alcohol has liberated their shock, will they ask me why their bills are so expensive.
My answer? Well, after your inclusive minutes, you’re spunking 35-40 pence a minute calling your best friend, because he or she is on a different network.
Now, faced with the choice of saving 10% of their incomes and using an advertising funded free mobile service, hmmm. Well, I think quite a few could be persuaded to swap.
Depending on the ads and the way the system is implemented, I may also be interested.
10% of your income? On your MOBILE PHONE BILL?
Anyway, rock on Blyk, let’s see what you’ve got!
