UK companies in force at Mobile World Congress 2016
Mobile World Congress 2016 is set to kick off in just a few days, and this year will see more than 50 British companies at the event located in the “GREAT Britain Pavilion” section comprising more than a thousand square metres of exhibition space across Hall 6, Hall 7 and Hall 8.1.
The Pavilion will be home for the week to many of the UK’s leading mobile companies, illustrating just what a talented and innovative bunch we are in the mobile sector. A wide variety of cutting-edge technology and new services will be on show including the latest in apps, hardware, the Internet of Things (IoT), and of course a couple of surprises along the way.
Biggest presence ever for the UK
The dozens of UK companies attending Mobile World Congress will comprise one of the largest country contingents at the show, and probably the biggest presence ever for the UK.
Around 30 homegrown companies are being supported by the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) program Tradeshow Access Programme, which aims to help smaller companies attend key events such as Mobile World Congress. This year it’s organised by Tradefair on behalf of techUK.
The UKTI itself has a stand in hall 7C40, and is said to be focus on even futher improving the reputation of the UK in the mobile industry. UKTI also plans special thought leadership sessions that will encompass topics such as smart cities, connected systems, cyber security, future networks and IoT.
Mark Birchall, Managing Director of Tradefair recently stated:
“Mobile World Congress is where mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners come to meet. Over recent years the UK has asserted itself at the forefront of mobile innovation, with advancements in hardware, software, networking and content”.
Birchall added “This year marks one of the largest number of UK companies at Mobile World Congress since the event was launched. The UK displays expertise in mobile innovation that is continuing to advance year-on-year, as exhibitors showcase a diverse range of innovative ideas in the mobile sector”.
