Brunei Water Services Department sending out text updates
Well this is rather nifty: If there’s going to a be problem with the water supply in Brunei, you can sign-up to get text alerts from the Government’s Water Services Department. Obviously any interruption in the water supply is an issue so a bit of prior warning sent to your handset is invaluable. I’m not quite sure if any water companies in the UK have quite discovered text messaging, let alone deployed update or information services.

In a move to get to the public attention in a fast and unmistakable way, the Water Services Department has started sending SMS to inform the public or a looming four-day water cut.
The Water Services Department has gone all out in using the communication tool, the most popular short message service (SMS) to advise the public in advance about the disruption.
Observers lauded the move and advanced advisor made by the Department through the DST Care services. The SMS were distributed about a week from the date of planned disruption which could give ample time for residents to stock their water supply.
