Brilliant — here’s the overview:
Have you ever run out of battery whilst you are away from your home and been unable to use your phone or ipod? Have you wished there was some way to charge it before you got home? If so ChargeBox is the solution you’ve been hoping for.
ChargeBox is a machine which enables you to charge devices such as mobile phones, ipods and pdas inside a securable locker. You can safely leave your device charging and collect it at your convenience.
ChargeBoxes can be found in locations such as hotels, gyms, train stations, airports, hospitals, internet cafes and on the high street.
It costs 1 to use a ChargeBox which gives you up to 40 minute charging time. This can be paid either with a coin or by SMS. (via Springwise)
I love the fact you can pay by SMS. Smart!
I reckon Hotels will love it. The 5-star hotels in particular who have to try their best to maintain an array of chargers for their forgetful but lucrative clients. Forget having to mess around with a ‘charger library’! Just install a Chargebox and let your patrons sort it themselves.
Gyms are another good idea. Pop to the gym for a swim and give your mobile a charge. Of course it’s not just mobiles — it’s other devices too — I’m thinking ipods in particular.
I’ve been waiting for something like this. I look forward to trying one out!
Case in point: You know one thing with the N90 … if you use it a lot — and I mean a lot — if you’re having one of those on-the-phone days, complete with lots of data use, the battery is appalling. You can almost see the battery charge meter dropping as you talk. It’s fine if you don’t use it much though.
Anyway, I was out and about on Saturday and had just one of those days. A total arse. I was down to 2 battery-bars out of about 6-7 by midday. And I was in Reading. And I spent a while waiting for a train at Reading station. You know what, if I could have plugged the N90 into a chargebox and gone and got a sandwich for 40 odd minutes while it charged… that’d have been worth a quid to me.
You know you’re a TOTAL mobile geek when you feel naked with just 2 bits left on your battery meter.
