China bans all non-USB chargers to cut waste

All cell phones made in China are required to use a universal charger interface, based on the USB slot, in a bid to cut waste and lower user costs, according to MII.
You have to wonder why other countries aren’t rushing to do this particularly in view of the environmental issues alone. I think it’s a good idea.
It’s an absolute arse when you’re at somebody else’s office and you want to charge your phone, only to find, everyone on the floor uses Sony Ericsson and there are NO Nokia chargers anywhere.
