Council talks to teens via SMS

Link: Aylesbury Today News – SMS helps youngsters get their message across

A NEW SMS text messaging service aimed specifically at improving communication links for young people is being launched across Buckinghamshire on Wednesday, May 16

The scheme will enable safe and secure two-way communication between young people – individuals as well as groups, such as youth clubs – and the County Council’s extensive range of youth services. The SMS text message system was chosen because, while some young people do not always have access to email, most have access to a mobile phone.

Another great use of a simple – but effective – SMS technology. If you’ve ever had to call a council, you’ll know it can sometimes be a rather stressful experience trying to get hold of the right person in the right department, and then they’re all on lunch, or even worse you end up in a queue for 20 minutes.. Wish more government bodies were text enabled!
