DirectTV Offering Mobile Scheduling

directvmobile
DirectTV has announced an awesome new service that allows its customers to use their mobile phone to schedule recordings on-the-go. They’ve smartly introduced m.directv.com, in addition to allowing users the same features on a desktop browser.

They’re not the first, since TiVo and AT&T already have similar services in place, but Directv is certainly making a big deal of if, and I think it’s awesome. Currently the system is slightly limited to only being able to search for a specific program, as opposed to browsing the channel lineup, but I would guess that most users will only use this mobile service in a crunch and will know the exact program they’re needing, anyways.

Carlo over at MobHappy has some screenshots after he gave the site a run on his Nokia E61, and it looks like a well-designed site.

So now you can order pizza and program your DVR from your mobile, using the internet. Anyone still think having access to the internet on your mobile is stupid/pointless? Anyone?
