Domino's Pizza iPad app is now available (plus, order by PayPal!)
Pizza and mobile. Two things that are right at the top of my mind on a regular basis. I’ve written regularly about my annoyance of having to phone up to order pizza. It’s just such an inefficient process. So when the first mobile applications and mobile web services arrived, I was delighted. I’ve regularly used the Papa Johns mobile website on both iPad and iPhone to place an order.
When your wife suddenly and unexpectedly agrees to the ordering of pizza, you need to nail that transaction as soon as possible, so she can’t change her mind.
I’m delighted, therefore, that on the back of their recent Android app launch, Domino’s Pizza have extended their offering with a dedicated iPad app.
The app is looking rather swish. It makes full use of the iPad screen real estate. It will automatically find your local restaurant’s menu — INCLUDING (and this is important) the deals offered by that particular establishment. Often you’ll remember seeing a flyer with some nice deals only to be faced with the static main dominos.co.uk website online — without all the upgrade options.
It’s not just a swish app, the transaction process looks pretty neat: It’s all based on PayPal. I am a big fan of PayPal provided it’s integrated correctly. This means you don’t have to mess around with credit card details. You just confirm your PayPal credentials and boom. All done.
I haven’t actually done a full transaction end-to-end as yet but I fully intend doing so probably tonight. No need to mention this to anyone, though.
Kudos to Somo Agency who delivered the project. I wasn’t sure if it was Somo, but I have just confirmed this with their PR. It’s yet another brilliant project for the Somo team’s expanding credentials pack. I’ll hopefully be featuring the company in our Mobile Developer Titan series (supported by BlueVia) in the coming weeks.
