Free texts on Virgin Mobile UK until September

A friend of mine mentioned this Virgin Mobile UK promotion — she’s been loving it.  She went so far as to buy her boyfriend a SLVR L6 (the one in the Virgin range that I was specifically admiring) so that they could text for free.   I’m pretty impressed to have a girl mention this to me in conversation. 

I’m not sure if the promotion will force her off o2.  However she’s now walking about with her defunct o2 handset in her handbag and the Virgin Mobile one in her hand.  Witness the power of promotion!

Personally I’m a fan of any girl who thinks like that.  I don’t know if the boyfriend truly recognises her geek talents.  The promotion site is here and runs until the 30th of September. (Which, incidentally, is a day after my birthday.)

Anyway I thought this definitely warranted an SMS Text News award for the best mobile promotion seen in a while.  That, and their free kebab offer.
