Bank charges are a big issue in the UK. Big big issue. Go over your overdraft limit and you’re nailed by huge charges — and then, those charges often result in MORE charges (for going further over your overdraft), so before you know it, a £0.01 overdraft can result in hundreds of pounds of fees. Is this illegal? Well. Some say yes, others say no.

Some enterprising chaps -have created a song about the issue and conveniently, they’ve used TuneTribe to distribute it, meaning that you can easily purchase via your handset — and those purchases count toward the UK weekly number one. The concept being to get the song to number one during the week of the Office of Fair Trading test case on bank charges.

The mobile medium as the enabler here is rather smart. Theoretically, with the aid of Facebook, MySpace and a bit of mainstream media, getting the track to the number one spot will be very, very easy.
