Get thee to WIP Connector

Picture_1_41Did you read my LBS article in the WIP Connector newsletter that was sent out today?

If not, you missed — to paraphrase Blackadder — "A giant roller coaster of an article in sixteen sizzling paragraphs with some hot gypsies thrown in."

šŸ˜‰

Jim of WIP gave me a call earlier in the week and asked me if I’d write a perspective on location based services for the newsletter — many expletives and curses upon the lethargic, ridiculous performance of the industry later — I readily agreed.  Having got pure angst out of my system (why, oh why, do we not have any decent LBS things in this country — bar tracking lorries and whatnot?), I sat down and wrote about the experiences of my friend Joanne ("Jo" — recently engaged, by the way –  congratulations Jo!) and also my friend Tom.  Jim did some wicked editing — I was a little liberal with my ‘NEOLITHIC INCOMPETENCE’ comments in respect to the operators, amongst other things.

If you didn’t catch the article, I’ll see if I can reproduce it here later.  However, really, if you’re reading this blog, you definitely should have got the WIP Connector newsletter — which you can get by by flying over here and registering.  $300 to the uninitiated, but there’s $100 discount if — ssh, don’t tell your friends — you use ‘smstextnews’ as the promo code.  Buy me a pint of coke the next time you see me, right? šŸ˜‰

To give you a bit of a taster about the value they’re creating at WIP I’ve picked three companies out of the lists that Caroline highlighted in this week’s newsletter, (amongst a load of other topics).

Have you heard of Mobile Acuity Limited from Edinburgh in Scotland?  I hadn’t!  They integrate picture messaging into mobile marketing campaigns and mobile media applications.

What about ARCchart from here in London?  They’re a wireless research and consulting firm.

Come across CityDazz Interactive working out of Vancouver?  They bill themselves as  the best way to find local, relevant and personalized info on your mobile phone.

….They’re all WIP members that joined last week.
