Going to NY this weekend?

I had a pub lunch with my friend this afternoon.  Super vanilla cheesecake.

Anyway I was hearing all about the girl he’s rather enamoured with.  He met her online via MySpace a few months back and they’ve been talking every day.  In fact I recommended Juvino to him right away and said he should use them to call her, instead of paying bucketloads of cash to Orange for international calls. 

Things have been going well.

He’s booked a flight out next month to see her.  I’m excited for him.  Sat there in the pub I said to him, ‘Why don’t you go this weekend?’

He looked at me strangely. 

‘Go on, book a flight now and go and see her this weekend?’

The idea appealed to him.  I could see him thinking it through.  Then I had another idea!!   I flipped out my phone and began clicking through ShopQwik (an SMS Text News sponsor). 

‘Right,’ I said, ‘There’s a flight leaving Heathrow on Friday night…’

He was aghast!  He was shocked: ‘What, you can do that on your mobile?’

I showed him the service and flicked about the various options.  He ummed and ahhhed about whether to book. 😉   He didn’t — he’s already booked a gorgeous hotel and flight for September — but was dead impressed you could do it impulsively by mobile.
