Greenpeace use moblog UK to live-blog their invasion of Didcot Coal Power Station
Apparently Didcot Power Station is the second most polluting power station in Britain behind Drax in Yorkshire. Greenpeace hit upon the idea of staging a demonstration at the Didcot Station to highlight the issue and to demand the Government phase out coal fired power stations.
.. and replace them with what, well, that’s anybody’s guess. Anyway, my particular interest here is that the protesters set themselves up a mobile blog at Moblog UK. You can see it here.
They’ve been sending pictures from the top of the chimney (where, I think, they’re camped out), together with mobile video updates. That’s a screenshot of one of the videos playing on the right of this post.
Absolutely 100% phenomenal.
Instead of relying on the media to report their viewpoint, they’re going straight to the public via the moblog and, of course, via their own site at http://www.greenpeace.org.uk.
Visit the site’s frontpage at the moment and you’ll see news about the campaign together with this Youtube video shot at 6am just after the invasion!
Top marks!
