Hammonsdirect implements conveyancing text update service from Avanquest
This is super news.
Hammondsdirect are the UK’s leading high-volume conveyancing firm. For their customers, moving house is a complex and stressful process. Realising that strong communications with clients is essential throughout the conveyancing process, Hammondsdirect have introduced text messaging as an additional method of keeping in touch with house buyers.
Key information, such as completion dates are communicated by text as they happen, so customers are not left waiting for updates any longer than they have to.
Text Message Server integrates with almost every business application, ‘straight from the box’. SMS messages can be sent and received on the desktop and/or the software can be used to work with alerting and other automated systems.
Why is it good news? Well it’s demonstrating that big business is recognising that communication doesn’t just mean telephone, paper and email. The more companies that begin implementing the medium, the better. The mobile medium is very, very well suited to quick, short updates from staff handling your conveyancing.
For international readers: Buying a house in the UK — England specifically — is a total arse. You haven’t *actually* done the transaction until both parties sign an agreement to purchase. This means that I can come along, make an offer for your property, you accept — we all begin preparing for the deal and… right up until I formally sign, I can withdraw or change terms. The process is fraught with annoyance, unpredictability and frequent minor setbacks. So if you’re selling your house in England, you’re forever getting missed voicemails, letters, emails…and if you’re out of it for a day or so, or having a particularly busy few days at work, you can find that you’re the one holding up a chain of 20 other people trying to sell their houses. That’s just one viewpoint — from the consumer. There’s a whole load of other back office shenanigans going on between the lender, their solicitors, the [real] estate agent and so on.
Introducing text updates into this process = smart. I’m going to find out a bit more about how Hammondsdirect are using the service from Avanquest Solutions.
