HulloMail is my new voicemail provider

I’ve been looking around for another voicemail provider in recent days and of course HulloMail has been on my radar.

I decided to check out the service and signed-up about two minutes ago. It was very straight-forward, there’s no fee (although I expect HulloMail to introduce some freemium/premium services at some point) and it works very, very fast.

There was a 60-second online setup process — phone number, password, that sort of thing. I also chose to have my HulloMail ‘synched’ with my Googlemail. I thought there might be a challenge using Gmail vs Google Apps (I use the latter) but no. There were no exceptions. I typed in my account details and… done.

The next step was to tell my handset to redirect calls to the HulloMail system. I typed in the divert code supplied on the registration screen. Done.

And that was it.

The setup prompt suggested I test it out by dialing from another phone.

I left myself a message.

I got a text message notification immediately. Then I saw the voicemail arrive as an email thus:

Complete, you might notice, with a “HulloMail” Google Mail label.

Nicely done.

Since HulloMail also has access to my Google address book, it looked up the the phone number of the person calling me (in this case, my iPhone) and appended the correct details in the email subject. So instead of ‘Voicemail from +447767654654’ it reads ‘Voicemail from EwanO2iPhone’.

Very nicely done.

I’ve thus given up transcription!

Sign-up for HulloMail here.

And if you’re using Android, stop everything and get hold of the HulloMail Android app — it looks rather genius. I’m going to try this out later on.
