I Want An LG Watchphone
Perhaps because I used to watch alot of Dick Tracy when I was a kid, I don’t know, but I want one of these Watchphones that LG is showing off at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The guys at Crunchgear had a hard time photographing the thing, and it doesn’t seem like there is a wealth of information known, either.
However, I started to wonder if we’ll ever start seeing phones in creative form factors such as this. It’s interesting to me that in movies set in the future, cellphones are typically portrayed as small in-ear devices or some other fanciful form factor. Also, for a while, the trend seemed to be ‘how small can we get these phones?’ It’s still very much ‘how thin can we make them’, but the size seems to have hit a limit with the Pantech C300.
I wonder if this thing would even be usable? Obviously you’ve eliminated the issues of leaving your cellphone in the backseat of the taxicab or other misplacements, but you’ve also sacrificed quite a bit in terms of features.
Actually, it seems as though it might be a good replacement for the Motorola RAZR V3: zero features, but it sure looks cool. And yet, I still want one.
