iLoop Mobile managing Black Eyed Peas mobile internet site

iLoop are continuing their domination of the mobile music sphere in North America. I’m always interested to see what they’ve been up to a) because my company has done quite a bit with them in the past and b) they have rather good industry contacts — and they’re using them. I’d like to see more of this.

The global rap/hip hop megagroup the Black Eyed Peas has selected iLoop Mobile to create and manage their international web storefronts for mobile content, and the Black Eyed Peas’ mobile Internet site, which was launched as part of their concert December 1st at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

As a special launch promotion, the audience at the Staples Center concert was able to download to their phones exclusive mobile content recorded from that night’s show during and after the event itself.
The iLoop Mobile technology enabled mobile Internet (WAP) site is accessible on mobile phones at http://bep.web2move.com or by texting BEP to 47467 for a text link to the site. This is the first of many mobile projects where iLoop Mobile will provide the mobile technology for the Black Eyed Peas.

The Black Eyed Peas transcended their vigilant hip-hop roots and have become a global phenomenon, the likes of which the music world has rarely seen. Using iLoop Mobile’s technology platform, the Black Eyed Peas’ fan base worldwide will be able to download wallpapers, ringtones, voicetones, and video to their cell phones.  

‘With our love of music and fun, we want to share the fall tour with our fans,” said will.i.am, co-founder of the Black Eyed Peas. ‘With iLoop Mobile’s cool mobile technology, even I can build my own mobile Internet WAP site. Everyone in the group wants to be able to reach out to the fans with our latest news and pictures.”

iLoop Mobile is partnering with will.i.am—lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas and CEO of will.i.am Global, a music, clothing and philanthropic company—to enable 1:1 mobile communications and marketing with fans and consumers around the world. will.i.am Music Group represents Macy Gray, Fergie and Sergio Mendes, among others. i.am clothing is will.i.am’s fashion label featuring individually signed and numbered pieces of haute couture for the street.

The Black Eyed Peas understand the power of brand marketing as they have worked with a variety of national brands-including the NBA, Dr. Pepper, Verizon and Best Buy. The Peas were also one of the first acts to have their music (“Hey Mama”) featured in a campaign for
the Apple iPod.

‘We are excited to partner with the Black Eyed Peas and will.i.am to help them deliver mobile content to their US and international fans,” said Steve Koskie, CEO of iLoop Mobile. ‘Our platform is going to provide the Black Eyed Peas with the ability to take their creativity and content to a new level via the mobile channel.”
