iPAQ hw6910: just landed on my desk
Alas, I wasn’t sent this by HP or the Microsoft hordes. No one has seen fit to send me a free Range Rover either. Or, actually, a free Range Rover engine, after my misunderstanding with oil and the fundamental requirements of engines.
A family member received this iPAQ and has handed it over to me temporarily.
‘Hey, I could do an objective review of it,’ I exclaimed when shown it.
I have no idea if the hw6910 is any good.
I stopped caring about iPAQs since before HP bought Compaq. I used to be an obsessive. I had every single version of the iPAQ up until that time. Then I eventually said, ‘nah’, to Windows Mobile and the total hassle. Not before I had tried every version of the XDA and not before I spunked a wad of cash on the T-Mobile MDA Pro.
So I’m no fan.
I am a basic underlying fan: That is, I sorely wanted the devices and the operating system to work to my expectation, but this has hardly ever happened. Slow. Unresponsive. Clunky.
There is NOTHING WORSE than trying to answer an incoming call, pressing the green answer button with certain futility, because the device is 25 seconds behind you, still processing the last set of commands you issued.
If you happen to be in the know, perhaps you could tell me if this iPAQ is any good? Set my expectations. I won’t open it until later tomorrow. I don’t plan on doing any direct research as I don’t want to prejudge.
(Other than having mega low expecttations)
So later this weekend, I’m going to give it a go and see if I can try usign it in tandem with the Shine — and maybe even put on Good Mobile Messaging to see how it is.
