iPhone 3G still doing well in the UK

Apparently, even after having its fair share of problems and different lawsuits being filed against it, the Apple iPhone 3G is doing fairly well in the UK, reports MobileToday.

The device, which has brought about a semi-revolution of sorts in almost every country that it has launched in, has managed to hold almost 6% market share in the UK. In the initial two weeks that it went on sale, the device managed to sell over 50,000 boxes of itself per week. That’s a substantial figure, considering the fact that there’s only a single operator selling the phone in the UK.

After the early craziness faded away, the Gadget of the Year still manages to be sold at an outstanding sales figure of 27,000 per week. It is believed that sustained advertising campaigns across TV, print publications and and billboards have done all the magic on the consumers.

Now that prepay is on the cards, both O2 and Apple are hoping that Dearest Santa helps them have higher sales through the run-up to Christmas.
