Is that a Lobster in your pocket?
I made a quick stop off at Stratford the other day and got a coke from the Burger King there. Whilst I was in the queue waiting, I took a look in The Link window. They are promoting this phone shown in the picture — it’s a £69 megapixel Lobster, exclusive to The Link.
It looks like a fairly good looking phone, although I couldn’t previously have picked a Lobster handset out of a mobile phone line up.
CUE: A bit of Googling by MacLeod.
Now I know.
They’re Virgin Mobile own-brand handsets! Here, have a look at the Lobster 575. I must have seen them when I’ve been perusing the Virgin line-up but just never registered the brand name in my mind.
Lobster? Tell me truthfully, had you ever heard of them before?
They’re well specified for their price. It’s obviously critical to Virgin to get of its pay-as-you-go people on to decent megapixel capable handsets. The more folk who can be picture messaging and spending cash on data services, the better.
1.3 mega pixel camera
Does video recording
156 hour standby
188 min talk time
Dual band
64mb of memory
Mp3 compatible
And what’s more, it’s got space for 1,200 contacts. That’s pretty neat.
I don’t think I’d be too embarrassed walking around with a Lobster in my pocket. Although I think I’d have the black one rather than the hot-pink one.
