Is this an N93 I see before me?

So I promised I’d explain why I bought an N93 today.

Well, multiple reasons. Multiple proper reasons.

But the reality is this: The N73 has a real arse of a problem with it’s camera. It can’t take pictures properly. Not, proper-properly. It keeps on screwing up and taking ‘blue’ pictures or ‘black pictures’ — where the whole screen goes blue/black. Or worse, and more frequently, it takes blurred pictures.

Rubbish. For a serious photo-blogger like me, it’s a total shitter, it really is. You have to stand there ilke an arse holding the handset still for 5 seconds whilst taking the picture. JUST to get it so it’s not blurred or crap.

Gah.

And what’s more, even when you switch the flash off, the device still flashes when you take a picture. Seriously.

Anyway that was winding me up.

I also decided that, well, ok… look, if I’m honest, walking into the Three shop and discovering that the N93 is now a standard consumer phone offered to consumers………….. and here am I, poncing about with an N73 that doesn’t quite work to my requirements……………

You get the picture.

I considered taking it on contract from Three. I thought I’d try and avoid the up front cost. I liked the concept of the X-Series working on the N93.

But I was worried, deeply worried about data.

My T-Mobile accounts give me unlimited data. My Three account gives me………. er…… something, to be defined.

I just couldn’t take the chance that my new N93 would be locked to a service that wouldn’t allow me to easily upload my video.

I asked the guy in the 3store, ‘So how would I get videos and photos off the phone then?’

‘Er, you could bluetooth’em…. or use the data ca…….’

‘Let me stop you there,’ I said.

He was about to say ‘data cable’.

Nope. I made my decision there.

I walked straight out of the 3Store and five doors along to the Carphone Warehouse and bought the N93, unlocked, from a girl who thought I was a nutcase.

‘You can get it contract,’ she explained.

‘Er, no, it’s ok.’

Cheaper in the long run, isn’t it? More or less. And it’s unlocked. So I can use it with anyone.

So. Yes. It’s an N93 I see before me.

Bring it on. Standby for avalanches of photos and videos.
