Jupiter Analyst reckons no threat to iPod
Link: One more thing to come from Apple? from Guardian Unlimited: Technology.
Caught this by Charles Author on the Guardian technology blog. He’s quoting Michael Gartenberg of Jupiter here:
At the end of the day, there’s no reason to think the iPod will lose significant market share for the next 24 months.
Er………
Hogwash! 😉
What about mobile? HELLOoooooooooooh?
It is really, really exciting walking about the suburbs and central London seeing so many people disregarding their ipods (a bit common now, everyone’s got those white headphones hanging out their ears) for their newly upgraded Sony or Samsung.
This afternoon I was coming back from the gym (exercise, eh?) and saw a whole load of students walking home from one of the class A typical suburban schools. Gone are the iPods of last year. I kid ye not. In are the Sony Ericssons. Each one of these 5 kids – 2 girls, 3 guys all had Sonys. Certainly not representative, but I will be looking with interest at the next lot of research surveys and papers regarding the usage of music on the handset vs iPod.
