MIR Awards coming soon - suggest categories
I’ve completely re-thought out how we’re going to do the MIR Awards this year.
Last year it was a ton of work. An absolute ton of work.
So this year I’m going to appoint some judges, privately publish the submitted entries so that all judges can review online, and then gather everyone’s votes and opinions by a set date.
MIR awards are always subjective, based on the opinions and perspective of the judges — there’s no voting, except right at the end.
Once the awards are announced, we will then put the category winners into a public vote here on MIR to get the ‘MIR Best In Mobile 2009’ award.
I’d welcome your suggestions for categories, particularly from any companies and PR representatives reading. Half way into the competition we had some super entries that didn’t really fit their category. I want to make sure I can get your products and services into a decent, fair category. (e.g. I’m thinking of ‘best mobile navigation app’ rather than just having ‘best mobile app’.)
Last year we didn’t give out any physical awards but I’m mulling the concept. I think it’d be nice for winners and runners-up to receive a physical award that can be displayed. If that’s the case, then I’ll need to set an entry fee. I’m not a big fan of the concept though. I’d welcome your perspective.
What do you think?
As ever, I’m on ewan@mobileindustryreview.com or get me online.
