MOTORAZR2 debuts in the US
Personally I’ve never got on with Motorola phones – but if the original Razr floated your boat, you’ll be overwhelmed with excitement that the next generation Razr2 range has just launched in the US.
Apparently called the MOTORAZR2 or just the Motorola RAZR2 (depending which part of the press release you read), the range of three handsets be available from Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, US Cellular, and Verizon within the next couple of weeks.
The V9 (3G HSDPA), V9m (3G EVDO CDMA) and V8 (GSM) are smaller than the original RAZR range, but feature larger internal screens, a ‘best in class’ external screen, up to 2Gb of on-board memory and something rather curious called ‘haptic key technology’. There’s also stereo Bluetooth compatibility, real-time point-to-point video and ultra-fast menu navigation.
And that’s it for the highlights of the press release. Leaving the quotes from Motorola execs aside, a quick scan through the interweb reveals the range has got a 2.0MP digital camera, around 260 hours of standby or 3.5 hours of talktime, supports AAC and MP3 audio plus 3GP and MPEG4 video. The handsets also sport a calculator, calendar, and (deep breath here) can make and receive phone calls.
Personally it’s not my bag.. I mean a 2.0MP camera and a calculator are hardly cutting edge. As for the ‘ultra-fast menu navigation’ – that’s all very well and good, but.. no. I’ll stick with my Nokia thanks all the same!
