Motorola CEO Says 'I Can' To Icahn
Motorola recently announced that it was considering selling off the lackluster mobile phones division. After the bombshell that was the RAZR, the phones division had trouble coming up with a new hot item, and has been struggling ever since. Carl Icahn, a top investor who has spoken out against the mobile phones division several times, had announced his intentions to present a new plan for the mobiles division to the company’s board.
However, CEO Greg Brown, who took over for Ed Zander in January, announced that he would be taking over direct control of the hurting mobile phones division, in an effort to speed up the turn around efforts spearheaded by current head Stu Reed. Reed will stay on and assist Brown during the attempt at saving the division.
