MSN on Crickee
I was sat at Stratford station for 50 minutes because of a whole array of train cancellations. Perhaps it was the heat – I was overcome with the pressing need to get MSN messenger on my mobile.
I can’t quite remember my Juize username and password so I’ve never been able to get it on the N90. I remembered Ed of Crickee enthusiastically demonstrating MSN working through their service, so I thought I’d give it a go. I had replied to everything on the Blackberry so I was looking for something to do.
It was a painless process: type in your MSN username and password then hit ‘update’ on your profile. Go ‘online’ and then, woosh, your msn contacts list appears in the main Crickee window alongside your existing Crickee contacts.
I picked a friend and sent her a message. I wasn’t sure how quick it (or she) would be. So I sent the message and in about 10 seconds, up popped a ‘you have 1 message’ notification on Crickee.
Hit OK and there was the reply from her. Very cool indeed. We exchanged about 10 messages (that would have been at least a pound in text fees) and then, I made the mistake of pressing on the ‘previous’ menu link which exited Crickee – and of course, took me ‘offline’ on MSN. It was maybe 30 seconds before I was back on Crickee/MSN and talking to her again.
It seems that Crickee is linear – right now, it doesn’t appear to want to work in the background. I reckon I’d need that feature if I was going to use MSN and Crickee regularly as a matter of course. I can see a time when I could possibly use Crickee all the time for mobile IM when I’m away from the computer.
