Music on the tube
Here’s another photo I took the other day whilst on the tube. This time it’s of a group of four girls who got on the train to the sound of a pretty cool beat.
I looked around and saw that one girl, holding two handsets, had her Sony Ericsson W550i on ‘loud’. The W550i has a really good set of speakers on it specifically for the purpose of listening to out loud. She and her friends were singing along to and digging the beat — some sort of Beyonce track, I think.
Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating.
For me, I wouldn’t dream of invading the ‘space’ of others by playing music on my handset out to the general environment. But for these youngsters (yes, I am getting old), it was quite natural. The W550i wasn’t too loud. Loud enough for other passengers to notice, but not loud enough to be considered anti-social.
So while I’ve only used the ‘loud speaker’ function on my 550i about three times (demonstrating to others), it looks like this set of young people certainly appreciate and use the facility.
