My Top 7 apps: Gabriella Poczo of WorldRemit
For today’s top 7 apps list we have Gabriella Poczo from WorldRemit.
WorldRemit is the international transfer service known as the ‘WhatsApp of money’. It’s pioneering a mobile-first approach to remittances that’s changing the way migrant workers send money home to their loved ones across the globe.

VOGUE Runway app: To unwind from all the technology jargon I like fashion and I use this app in the evenings, especially during fashion week. It gives you a glimpse of runways around the world, and has loads of different look books that are always great to flick through.
GarminConnect: I love cycling and sports – you’ll almost always find me on my bike during the weekends. This app is great because it really helps to keep me focused and motivated by tracking my fitness and the distances I travel. If I’m proud of a particular distance or workout I’ll even share it on Instagram! It also helps me to deal with stress.
NHL Games – Hockey: Being Canadian, I’m a huge Los Angeles Kings fan – it’s one of the things I miss most from back home. This app lets me watch matches live, and is a good source for news, schedules and match statistics.
Slack: I hate emails, but I love direct messages. Slack allows my whole team at WorldRemit to communicate with each other much more efficiently than an email chain would, and it keeps our inboxes unclogged, too!
Android studio: This tool really has made developing apps a lot easier than when Android was still the new kid on the block. It has all of the tools and the resources necessary to create amazing Android Apps. I used it a lot when I worked at Skype, and still do, as it helps me to stay in touch with my team of Android developers and the community.
Stack overflow: Stack Overflow is the largest online community for programmers to learn, share their knowledge, and advance their careers. It’s a bit like LinkedIn, but for developers. If I’m interviewing a potential candidate at WorldRemit, I’ll always check their Stack profile first.
WheelDecide: WheelDecide is a randomisation app that works in a wheel of fortune type way. I use this every Wednesday at WorldRemit, and select two developers at random so that we can get out of the office for coffee and cake. It’s a great way to get to know them better on a personal level, and to see how they’re finding particular projects.
