Online property price reporting website, MyHousePrice.com (http://www.myhouseprice.com), today launches a new mobile phone service covering over seven million property transactions in England, Scotland and Wales.
The service, available on all networks by texting the word ‘House†to 64488, will provide accurate, independent and up-to-date house price information for house buyers, sellers and those with a general interest in house price trends in their area.
Mobile phone users can enter any postcode for a free search through the details of recently sold properties. After this initial free preview, they can then select any individual property to retrieve the price information.
The service works on all mobile phones by automatically detecting the user’s phone type and responding accordingly, and was developed in partnership with mobile content specialists Activefone Limited.
The launch represents phase one of the new offering, with phase two aiming to take advantage of the new generation of mobile phone technology known as ‘location based services’. When this feature is implemented, it will allow users to retrieve house price information within 100 meters of their current location. Phase two will launch within six weeks.
Alan Douglas, director of MyHousePrice.com said: ‘This service offers real time-saving benefits to existing and new customers.â€Â
I wondered how exactly this worked — I thought that perhaps it did a location-lookup to see where your handset was. But no, it’s a very straight forward service. Simply text ‘house’ and their system writes back immediately with a WAP PUSH message that loads up their mobile web system. Type in your postcode and woosh, there you go. That’s all free. You only pay to access specific information later on.
It’s fantastic. I put in my postcode and got a heck of a lot of up to date relevant data about the house that was sold next door.
It’s just £1.50 if you want to know the exact details.
