A neat usage of the technology.  Here’s the gossip:

After the Tour of the Galleries in Leipzig last Saturday the New Media artist and painter Matthias Haase installed a SMS chat system at a party labelled „I’m Lovin’ it’. The event was hosted by a new night club known as „BAR’ located in building number 10 at Baumwollspinnerei where galleries and exhibition spaces opened new exhibitions that weekend. Next to dancing to electronic music by the Djs Carbone from Leipzig, Peter Nikolai from Berlin and Tensing Norgai (Oslo), all guests could send their own text messages to the chatwall to be displayed due the party. The SMS installation has been realised by a projector whereby the system’s telephone number and incoming

SMS have been projected onto a wall with window and radiator at the venue. Messages like „I tried hard not to be bothered by art’ and „Bass, we love you, but when will there be Jungle?’ solved questions on art and club sound. This text message: „Tokio-leipzig, bankok-leipzig, hamburg-leipzig, barcelona-leipzig, berlin-leipzig, paris-leipzig, moskau-leipzig, kapstadt-leipzig, kopenhagen-leipzig, prag-leipzig’ left an impression on the internationality of the new art szene in Leipzig.
Until October the 14th 2006 the chat system will be presented in a varied way as a SMS chat sculpture next to big sized oil paintings due the solo exhibition labeled „Diesel – Painting and New Media’ by Matthias Haase at Artbuero Berlin Gallery in Berlin Mitte.
