Nokia 5800 XpressMusic begins its delivery run

Heading in to next week’s Nokia World in Barcelona, the former Wellington boot manufacture has just made public they’ll soon be shipping the 5800 XpressMusic to parts of the world.

They’re making head way to Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Finland first of all with the rest to follow suit. Although not shipping to all as yet, it’s still a good start.

A spokesperson at Nokia’s press office has confirmed to us the due date for Blighty hasn’t been set in stone yet, but expect it to arrive early 2009.

With the 5800 XpressMusic coming along with 8GB of memory for 6,000 tracks, plus support for the most common digital music formats around they’re looking to take it to Apple.

Coupling that with the 3.2-inch touch screen, they might as well have called it the Nokia iPhone. Especially seeing as it has 16:9 format, 30 fps playback, and VGA quality video recording via the 3.2 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera lens.

Its MediaBar seems to be a useful addition, giving quick access to the handsets music, video and photos whilst also providing instant access to the ‘net.

Let’s not forget the phone arrives with Nokia’s Comes With Music, offering up free unlimited music download for a year. Not a bad offer we think, imagine how much money Apple would lose if they did that with their iTunes store.

Expect to see the Series 60 5th edition phone wherever you are soon
