Nokia N95 gets beefed up for the US market

Came across this earlier, makes interesting reading. Although there’s an N95 version already in existance for the North American market, Nokia have just announced a new beefed-up version compatible with AT&T’s 3G network.
Under the hood, it’s got 850mHz/1900mHz HSDPA (at the expensive of 2100mHz HSDPA), and a whopper of a battery – the 1200mAh BL-6F Li-Ion now comes as standard. You’ll also get a 1GB micro SD card, and an increase in on-board RAM to 128Mb.
Cosmetically the main really visible change is colour – it’s black. It’s also a slightly different shape to accomodate the new battery, and apparently the shutter sliders gone missing. That was always my main complaint about the N80 – not having a shutter slider makes for a really grimey lense. I’m hoping it hasn’t disappeared completely!
You can peruse the full spec sheet over at Symbian Guru. In the meantime, word on the street is the revised N95 will be hitting the streets as an unlocked handset towards the end of this year, with the AT&T version sometime in the new year.
Stop press: Darla Mack and Symbian Guru have been busy the past few days, and have got the first real live pics of the new US N95.
