Omnilert launches e2Campus 2.0 for colleges and universities
Omnilert have upgraded their e2Campus SMS alerts service for colleges and universities to version 2.0. It’s got a host of new features:
– a few lines of code added to the website and SMS sign-up is integrated right away
– alerts can be dynamically added to the institution’s website… very smart
– additional group management functions (this looks like they’ve extended the ability for you to segment student lists and groups — e.g. 2nd year students or the like)
I’m continually encouraged to read news of this sort. It is simply unacceptable for a college or university to be without a system such as e2Campus.
I absolutely cannot comprehend why every single college and university isn’t made to have something like this. I’m a huge fan.
I ask every headmaster, head teacher or provost I meet (not that this is an every day happening, you understand) the following question:
"How do you contact all your students, right now, with a time sensitive message?"
Invariably they look at me dumbfounded. That’s not possible, they tell me. Or ‘I don’t know?’ followed by a helpless look. I had one guy suggest ‘I’d use a loudspeaker’. Yeah… right. Another told me ‘We never need to’. Absolute rubbish.
I think it’s critical, absolutely critical, for organisations to have this sort of facility. Not just schools, colleges and universities — but big offices and factories as well.
