Origami -- still quite underwhelmed

Following rampant rumours online, the first ultraportable tablets running Microsoft’s Touch Pack for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 have been unveiled at the CeBIT 2006 consumer electronics fair in Hannover.

I was one of the plumbs who bought those Smart Display things a while ago.  Imagine the Origami only 17" monitor size.  The Phillips model I bought had a few annoying bugs but I still use it as a regular monitor.

I think the Origami is too big and too laptoppy.  It’s awful thick.  I can’t see a good looking girl brandishing one on the train (this is my test for widespread consumer adoption along the lines of the Apple ipod).  Too thick, too heavy, too geeky still.

I haven’t seen one ‘in the wild’ yet — this viewpoint may well change super-quick.
