Short messaging service (SMS) payment has become a reality, thanks to a new service launched by Citibank.

Called CitiMobile, the new 24-hour payment service is targeted at Citibank credit card customers.

By sending a text message like ‘Pay myTenaga RM100” to the bank, customers are effectively transferring their bills to their credit cards.

To date, bills from 50 merchants, including Blooming.com.my, DiGi, Indah Water, Malaysia Airlines and Tenaga, can be settled in this way.
