Photos: Palm Treo 750v VS Canon Ixus40

Just got this in from Steve at iTagg. He’s been out taking pictures of snowy London and doing and interesting comparison.

Camera phones are rubbish aren’t they!! Just plain old rubbish. The attached were taken at the same time this morning to show off the snow we’ve got in London – yippppeeeey!!!! One with a Palm Treo 750v and the other with a 2 year old Canon Ixus40 (a pocket sized digital camera). And both were taken with no flash. No guessing which is which.

You can almost imagine Microsoft when writing the software for WM5 [that is used on the Treo] thought “hey you guys, lets invent a device within the phone that can record images onto a digital file – we are soooooo clever at Microshite aren’t we!! Lets call it MSphotos. But as we are inventing this amazing concept from new, we can make up the rules…..so lets say that all photos must have a blue cast to them. Then we’ll be able to bring out WM6 in a few months time (which will need a phone upgrade obviosuly) which will remove the blue cast from future images. Wow, guys, the ‘trap our users in a vicious circle’ con lives on.”

So frankly, phone manufacturers have got a looooooooooong way to go before they can play happy snappys with the grown ups!!

As Steve says.. guess which one is which..

Maybe there’s some sort of Photoshop filter that can be applied… 😉
