Piczo goes mobile, at last

Link: Piczo Finally Gets a Mobile Site

Piczo is the latest to turn to Intercasting Corp. for the development of a mobile network on its Anthem platform. From the looks of it, Piczo will be offering SMS and MMS messaging on the mobile site, along with the ability to upload images directly from their handsets, and post comments onto Piczo pages.

This will all be integrated with Piczo’s website offering, of course, and considering the main user base of Piczo, the mobile site should be a pretty popular one. We’re just wondering what took Piczo so long?

I wonder if the dire state of America’s mobile handset marketplace has anything to do with it? ‘Mobile’ generally means ‘text message’ or, if you’re feeling particularly sexy on a given day, it could also mean ‘text and mms’. But WAP? The experience is shit. Remember most of the teen population in the States is walking about with a piece-of-crap Motorola capable of displaying four lines of text on it’s screen at once.

But, the fourth most popular social networking site in Britain? They definitely, definitely need mobile. I gather Piczo are in San Francisco so I’ll see if I can go along and have a chat.

Speaking of having chats and social networking, I’m off, this morning, to a Bebo launch event…
