Pizza Hut Offers Mobile Ordering Across The U.S.
Pizza Hut isn’t the first chain in the United States to offer customers the ability to order pizza from their cellphones, but they are offering the most robust system. According to Reuters, Americans craving the full-balanced meal that is pizza can either log onto Pizza Hut’s website via their mobiles, or order via SMS, whichever they wish, to order a pizza.
Late last year, Dominoes offered customers of 2,500 locations the ability to order via a mobile-optimized website, and Papa Johns has offered an SMS-based ordering system since November.
After a bit of exploration on my mobile (I’m blogging this on my Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, tethered to my Nokia N95), I was unable to find a mobile-version of Pizza Hut’s site, though the regular site displayed with no problems on my phone. I WOULD be more impressed if they setup the m.website or even pizzahut.mobi (neither of which currently register at all).
Have you ever ordered a pizza from your mobile? I’ll have to give it a go sometime in the next few days.
*Edit* – I’m back at my PC, and upon further exploration of PizzaHut.com, I notice that there are 2 options, both of which require you to setup an account on pizzahut.com on your PC before you can use the mobile option. For SMS, you can click here for the details. The mobile site is supposed to automatically detect your phone when you go to pizzahut.com and give you a mobile version. They’ve incorrectly recognized my Nokia N95 as a full desktop computer (which it’s capable of being, but certainly not optimized. I wish they would use m.pizzahut.com as a 2nd option).
