Princess Beatrice is back in touch with her controversial American boyfriend after promising her mother she had ended the relationship.

The 17-year-old has been secretly sending loving text messages to Paolo Liuzzo, 24, who faced jail after being accused of the manslaughter of a fellow student in a drunken brawl in 2002.
