SMS firm punished for breaches in China
It is particularly appealing to read this article in Asia Media Daily about Hurray Holdings, whose unit, Bejing Enterprise, has been fined US$700,000 and relegated to the bottom of service menus (and more) for "improper promotion of a service".
It’s appealing to me because here in the UK, everything is extremely lax. The regulator is generally unable to adequately punish British service operators so consumers are continually screwed about. Often, the regulator will take action against a rogue company, only to find they’ve deliberately gone out of business the next day… and are back trading under a different name the week after!
So it’s excellent to see that China Mobile is taking such action. This can only be good for the end user.
