SMS from city police chief

CHENNAI: The City Police have hit upon a novel idea to prevent burning of waste on `Bhogi’ day.

An appeal by Greater Chennai Police Commissioner R. Nataraj has been messaged to subscribers of all four cellular phone service providers — Airtel, Aircel, BSNL and Hutch.

The message reads, "Have a safe Bhogi & Prosperous Pongal. For police help contact 100 – Commissioner of Police, Chennai."
