SMS Ticker offers TV companies text-to-screen system for US$ 800

I came across this piece of software this morning — I forget how I found it — but I’m rather impressed at the offering. Gyula Rabai has created a Windows based scroller for TV stations which allows text messages to be scrolled along the bottom of a screen — texts can be received either directly from a mobile phone or via an internet SMS gateway.
The beauty of it: it’s yours for US$ 800. You can even download a free trial to check it works ok. Brilliant!
Generally speaking, if you go and commission an SMS to screen service to be created for you, you’re going to have to shell out thousands of pounds at least. Either that, or you need to do a rather generous revenue-split with the company providing the system. (If there are any other text-to-Tv providers out there, whack me an email with the details so I can publish them). I like the fact that now, if anyone ever asks me ‘How do we do text scrolling on the bottom of the TV?’ I can point them to SMS Ticker website. Give the software to your technician and within a few minutes I reckon you’d be up and running.
